Alison D'Amato
Alison D’Amato is a choreographer, performer and researcher. She holds an MA in Dance Theater from Laban, in London (for which she was awarded a 2006 Jack Kent Cooke Graduate Scholarship), and a BA in Philosophy from Haverford College. Her choreographic work has been presented: in New York through Movement Research (Judson Church), the Tank, AUNTS, WAXworks, Dixon Place, and BAX/Brooklyn Arts Exchange; at various Philadelphia venues; internationally, in Poland and the Laban Centre in London. From 2002-2005 she created hybrid performance works as a co-founder and co-director of Dead Genius Productions. Dead Genuis’s work was presented by the Philadelphia Live Arts Festival, the nEW Festival, the University of Pennsylvania, Brown University, Haverford College, and Chashama. When not creating dance, she loves performing for dance-makers like: Devynn Emory, De Facto Dance, Meg Foley/moving parts, Rebecca Davis, Sasha Welsh, Liz Santoro, and Nichole Canuso Dance Company. Her academic writing has been presented at Laban and Harvard University, and her critical writing can be found on The Dance Insider.
